Ancash

Ancash, being located between the coast and the northwest mountains of Peru, has a diverse geography, it has beaches and at the same time mountains of very steep reliefs; its snow-capped mountains in the Andes Mountains are the highest in Peru.

In this region there are high peaks, such as the Huascarán mountain (6,768 meters above sea level), also beautiful water mirrors, picturesque valleys such as the Callejón de Huaylas and paths surrounded by flora that cross the Andes mountain range until reaching the Chavín de Huántar archaeological site.

Mountain Cordillera Blanca Festival: June 29th - July 1st

It shows the best scenarios for adventure sports, through the Aerothlon (sports and adventure discipline that adds cross-country skiing or rough terrain, paragliding and mountain biking), climbing, trail running, mountain cinema, exhibitions and closing concert. The participation of international competitors stands out.

Archaeological Museum of Ancash

It exhibits diverse objects of the pre-Columbian cultures that populated the zone. Interesting collection of monoliths from the Recuay culture exposed in the Lithic Park.

Thermal baths of Monterrey

Recreation center with mineral water pools and swimming pools. Located 7km north of the city of Huaraz (15 minutes by car).

Chavin de Huantar

Monumental stone temple built by the oldest civilization of the Andes, the Chavin culture (1300 to 400 a.C.). The Chavín temple preserves an impressive 4 meters long sand eel at the confluence of an extensive labyrinth of galleries.

Huascaran National park

It has 663 glaciers, more than 200 snowy peaks, 296 lagoons and 44 important rivers. It is a paradise for scientists, climbers and walkers: however, it also offers numerous excursions that can be done by car in a single day and that do not require exceptional physical condition or camping equipment.

Llanganuco lagoon

Located 26 km from Yungay, between the snowy Huascarán and Huandoy. The vertical walls of the creek are as impressive as the turquoise waters. In Chinancocha there are boat rides and some services. The most adventurous can walk 7.5 km of strong climb to reach the impressive Laguna 69.

Pastoruri Glacier

The route passes through the fields of Puya Raimondi, a plant that exceeds ten meters in height. At the foot of the glacier there are services, food and horse rental. You can ski, the ski slope is about 400 meters, it is soft and suitable for beginners (and too easy for experts).
