Huánuco

The Huánuco region has beautiful areas of fertile forests that have coveted fruits such as coffee and cocoa, as well as a diverse flora and fauna preserved in the Tingo María National Park.

Here in the region is a perfect combination between mountains and jungle, this thanks to its high mountains, hot springs, caves and lagoons. It was populated for centuries by the man from Lauricocha and other cultures that left traces of his presence in Kotosh or Temple of the Crossed Hands.

Main Square

It has a beautiful pool of 4 meters high, built in 1845 in one piece and surrounded by beautiful ficus.

Temple of the Crossed Hands of Kotosh

5 km from the city. It has been dated by the Japanese archaeologist Seichi Izumi in 4,000 BC. Little is known about this culture, one of the oldest in the Andes.

Parque Nacional Tingo María

It has an area of 4,777 hectares. Created in 1965 to protect the set of mountains known as Sleeping Beauty and the adjacent forests. In the park lives a variety of reptiles, amphibians and insects, including endemic; diversity of birds such as the guácharo and the cock of the rocks and mammals such as the sajino, the picuro mama and the tigrillo.

Cave of the Owls

On the slopes of the Sleeping Beauty, it is a limestone grotto, in the Tingo María National Park, inhabited by the guácharo (peculiar bird of nocturnal habit) and other troglodytic and cavicola species. Wild orchids can be seen on the way to the cave.

Waterfall The Velo of the Nymphs

In the district of Tambillo, 20 minutes from Tingo María by car and 1 hour of walking. Beautiful chain of waterfalls.
